MUR, a contemporary metal band from Reykjavik, Iceland, has released their debut album "MUR", a collection of seven emotional and intense songs that transcend conventional frameworks. MUR is a contemporary metal band from Reykjavik, Iceland. The new talent, whose name means "brick wall" in Icelandic, creates a wall of raw emotion and unknown sound by combining the roar of guitars and keytar that covers the space while soaring disturbingly, the merciless rhythm that is carved mercilessly, and the vocals that penetrate to the depths of our hearts. Formed in the summer of 2021, MUR has been making a name for itself in the Icelandic underground scene with each passing day, thanks to their tight live performances. Less than a year after their formation, their talent has already blossomed.The band gained attention not only in their native Iceland but also in Europe after winning the Icelandic Wacken Metal Battle in the spring of 2022 and placing fourth in the finals held at the Wacken Open Air in Germany. Two years later, the band released their self-titled debut album "MUR". As evidenced by the fact that more than half of the songs are over 9 minutes long, the band takes its time to create dark grooves and huge energy with unpredictable bounces. And then we are pulled into MUR's world, as evidenced by the visualizer music video for (3) "Frelsari," released in October, which nicely blends the animation Ka'ri Haraldsson created as a teenager with the music he wrote years later. Also the longest song on this album, the 11-minute (6) "Heimsslit," is the most passionate and epic song on this album. After the release of this album, the band will tour around Europe, starting in the UK. After winning the Vakken, the gutsy MUR's performance is already being anticipated by metal fans with quick ears.The sound mass produced by the four members of the band, including Ka'ri, who sings with a keytar in her hand, in a side-by-side formation on stage, with the exception of the drummer, is breathtaking. It will not be long before the ethereal world of MUR, described as "contemporary metal," is praised around the world.
