Following Dvorak's "Cello Concerto in B minor" (PCDA 67917), British National Treasure, Stephen Isserlis, has recorded the complete Beethoven Sonatas as the culmination of his world tour including Japan in 2012! The fortepiano is played by Robert Levin, a world-renowned master of both period and modern cello, who has been playing with us on our highly successful world tour. The five cello sonatas, composed in the early, middle (Masterpiece Forest) and late periods of Beethoven's life and creative history. The evolution of the Sonata from "Piano Sonata with Cello Accompaniment" to "Sonata for Cello and Piano" is depicted on Isserlis' 1726 Stradivarius "Marquis de Corbron (Nersova)" with gut strings, and Levin plays on a Walter & Son (circa 1805) made by Paul McNulty, a contemporary master craftsman.
