Although his birth year and childhood circumstances are not known, records indicate that he became a musician at the Warsaw Royal Chapel in 1638, and in 1645 he became the chief musician at the court of Karol Ferdinand Waza, the brother of King Władysław IV. He was a man who used the most advanced styles of his time, including the inclusion of Polish folk songs in his works, and he was very careful about the placement of the chorus in the recording of the work with double chorus, which is also included on this album, and succeeded in carefully capturing the sound and spatial concepts that Mielczewski would have sought.
