In the Musikvereinsaal, known as the \"Golden Hall,\" Karajan masterfully manipulated the Vienna Philharmonic to perform a series of waltz and polka masterpieces by the Strauss family. In the \"Anne Frank Polka,\" Karajan perfectly matched the white horse dance with the sound of the strings. In \"Thunder and Lightning,\" Karajan himself posed as if he had been shot by a pistol, and in the \"Radetzky March,\" he even conducted the audience to clap their hands, surprising them. The stage was full of pomp and relaxation, which would be unthinkable on the usual stage of the \"emperor,\" but here we have the best of both worlds.
