Thanks to his remarkable contributions to the court orchestra, he has gone down in music history as a leading figure of the so-called “Mannheim School.”
While Richter is primarily known for his orchestral works (he composed more than 70 pieces in this genre), he also wrote a considerable amount of vocal music. His “Requiem” and “From the Depths” are prime examples of this.
This ambitious project—the world’s first recording of Richter’s “Requiem” and “Out of the Depths,” composed during his tenure as music director at Strasbourg Cathedral, performed by an ensemble on period instruments—is a fine initiative that exemplifies the meticulous attention to detail characteristic of SUPRAPHON.
The album also includes the *Sinfonia with Fugue*, composed during his time in Mannheim.
King International

Tracklisting:

1.Sinfonia con fuga in G minor, Boer 29: 1.
