Pianist Stefan Stroissnig, born in Austria in 1985, has thoughtfully recorded Schubert's last piano sonata! Studied under Ian Jones at the Royal College of Music in London, Stroissnig regularly performs on important stages throughout Europe, including the Royal Festival Hall in London, the Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna, and the Philharmonie in Berlin. He is highly acclaimed for his interpretations of Schubert and 20th- and 21st-century works. He is also committed to the training of younger musicians, and has taught at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, as well as serving as a guest professor at the Toho Orchestra Academy in Japan. At first, he had doubts and hesitations about whether it would be possible to capture in a recording the universe of Schubert that the No. 21 sonata encompasses, but he decided to make this disc, recalling Radu Lupu's recording of the work when he heard it for the first time.
