Description:
This is the German Harmonia Mundi debut of German traverso player Marion Troepel-Frank. Performing with the bassoon virtuoso Sergio Azzolini, this is an album of works by the little-known French composer Jean-Daniel Braun. Jean-Daniel Braun (1728?-1740) was a prominent composer, flutist, and bassoonist who lived in culturally prosperous 18th century Paris. Little is known about him except that he was a member of the orchestra at Epernon. Troepel-Frank has waded through various archives around Europe to uncover some of the composer's most interesting works, which he has performed and recorded. The album, which includes the world's first recording of his music, also features three of his best-known players as bass players.Period instruments provide rustic baroque music worth rediscovering, with interpretations that are flawless in every aspect of the performance. *2,4,5,6,7,9 are world premiere recordings.
