Rustioni's program featured a rare collection of works by Italian composer Giorgio Federico Gedini (1892-1965). Ghedini was born in Cuneo, Italy, and studied organ, piano, and composition in Turin before attending the Conservatory of Bologna. He studied composition under Marco Enrico Bossi.He taught composition at the Turin Conservatory from 1918 to 1937 and at the Parma Conservatory from 1937 to 1941, and then moved to the Milan Conservatory, where he served as director from 1951 to 1962. He was a distinguished educator, and his students included Claudio Abbado and Luciano Berio. As a composer, Guedini was a great admirer of Renaissance and Baroque music, arranging many works by Frescobaldi, Monteverdi, Gabrieli, and others, and was greatly influenced by Renaissance and Baroque music. He wrote his works by blending ancient musical styles and modern sensibilities in his own unique way. This is a characteristic of Rustioni's music.
