The original soundtrack to "Little Richard: I Am Everything," a documentary film about one of the founders of R&R, Little Richard, which was screened at the Sundance International Film Festival in January 2023 and later at SXSW in select theaters in the United States. The documentary film "tells the story of rock 'n' roll's black queer origins and reveals the innovator and originator Richard Pennimen (Little Richard's real name) as he disrupted the norms that adorned the veneer of American pop music. Through a wealth of archival material and performances that explore Richard's complex inner life, the film unravels the story of this icon's life, in all of its adversities and contradictions. Through interviews with family members, musicians, and cutting-edge black & queer scholars, the film reveals how Richard created an art form for ultimate self-expression, yet what he gave to the world he could never give to himself.Throughout his life, Richard vacillated between God, sex, and rock 'n' roll like a shiny, cracked pinball. The world tried to keep him in a box, but Richard was an omnipotent being that encompassed so much, he was unabashedly everything. The soundtrack to this award-winning documentary includes immortal Little Richard hits like "Tutti Frutti," "Rip It Up," and "Long Tall Sally," plus two covers by Valerie June and Corey Henry, and the original score to the film, composed by Tamar-Kari Brown and one song from the film's original score composed by Tamar-Kari Brown.
