The band preferred Easter's mix, but Hibbert adopted Easter's, and the single was released in 1981 in a limited 45-rpm edition in a black-and-white sleeve with an original photo of Michael Stipe, and has become a popular collector's item.\n\n\n\n\"Radio Free Europe\" was later re-recorded for the band's first album released on I.R.S. Records and made the band's chart debut at #78 on the Billboard Pop Charts.
