This album contains four pieces from his \"Moral Cantatas,\" works that were influenced by the \"Enlightenment\" that was prevalent in Europe at the time, as well as a fantasia composed at the same time. These are wonderful pieces of music that reflect the musical cultivation of the Hamburg bourgeoisie (middle class) of the time and their contemporary concerns for moral improvement and the search for joy in life, convincingly expressed in polyphonic phrases.The group features renowned soprano Bettina Pahn, a renowned soprano of ancient music, along with Joachim Heldt, a well-known lute player on the Hensler label, Juliane Raquet on viola da gamba, and Karsten Rohlf on harpsichord.
