This is the second collection of Tchaikovsky and Offenbach Rudolf Schock's famous operas sung in German, performed in German. Today, operas are usually sung in the language in which they were written, but in the first half of the 20th century, it was common practice to translate them into the language in which they were performed. Here, \"Tales of Hoffmann\" and \"Fra Diavolo\" appear in French, \"Evgeny Onegin\" and \"Queen of Spades\" in Russian, and \"Cosi fan tutte\" in Italian, all in German. Rudolf Schock (1915-1986), a tenor born in Duisburg, made his debut in 1937, but did not become fully active until after the war due to military service. In addition to performing with Furtwängler, Sell, and Böhm, she also performed operettas and popular songs in her repertoire and became a familiar presence on television. Schock was popular for her uniquely positive, sensual and beautiful voice, which can be fully appreciated here. The co-starring musicians are also gorgeous, and the conductor, Schuchter, who has close ties to Iserstedt and Japan, is also very interesting. The inclusion of four Tchaikovsky songs as extras is also very welcome.Of course, it is sung in German.
