They are a mandolin and piano duo based in Germany. In Russia, there is a round, steel-stringed folk instrument called the domra, which is very similar to the mandolin. It is played with a pick and tremolo technique, which gives it a very mandolin-like sound in a balalaika ensemble. Dubovskaya, who originally studied domra in her hometown and mandolin under Steffen Trekel at the Hamburg Conservatory, is fluent on both instruments and plays them differently depending on the piece. On this album, he shows off his abilities in Beethoven's original mandolin pieces and Vivaldi's masterpiece concerto, as well as his exquisite rendition of Talega's \"Memories of the Alhambra,\" a masterpiece for guitar. He also took up the challenge of playing a piece by Tsigankov, who was praised as the king of the instrument, on the domra. This piece has a very Russian flavor and makes you feel like you are traveling in Russia.
