This time, Maxim Vengerov, who made a full recovery after a long absence in 2012, and Russian pianist Elena Bashkirova, founder and artistic director of the Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival, perform a collection of Brahms trios that will allow you to truly enjoy Brahms. In the Clarinet Trio, Wenzel Fuchs, principal clarinetist of the Berlin Philharmonic, gives us plenty of refined technique and colorful tone in the opening piece. The quintet is the most popular clarinet masterpiece of Brahms's later years, but Brahms himself seems to have preferred the Trio Trio. The work brings out the beautiful sound of the clarinet to its fullest, and the exquisite interplay between the three players, Fuchs, Vengerov, and Bashkirova, as they pass the baton, is superb. In the Piano Trio Collection, the piano, cello, and violin are each wonderfully expressive, and the performance is brimming with Brahmsian charm and passion. The beautiful ensemble is, of course, large in scale, and the playing is supple and flexible, including Einsatz's changes in intensity and weakness. The two cellists performing are Boris Pergamenschikov, the famous Russian cellist who died in 2004 at the young age of 55, and Dietmar Schwalke, who is also one of the 12 cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic. The jacket design is a drawing by up-and-coming German creator Yvonne Andolini.
