Founded in 1999 by Argentine-born Israeli conductor Daniel Barenboim and the late Palestinian-American literary scholar and critic Edward Said, the orchestra aims to put into practice its core philosophy of “building bridges toward coexistence.”\nFollowing the “Leonore” Overture No. 3—which was also featured in “Alhambra Live”—the orchestra performed Beethoven’s supreme masterpiece, the Ninth Symphony.
