This marks only the second time Prague has hosted the concert; the Estates Theater, chosen as the venue for 2006, is famous for hosting the 1787 premiere of *Don Giovanni*, conducted by Mozart himself. Since 2006 marked the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s birth, just as with the first festival in 1991, the program consists entirely of Mozart works.\nConductor Barenboim, who has appeared as a conductor in 1992 and 1997 and as a pianist in 1994 and 2004, is a regular at this concert—this marks his fifth appearance—and he is perfectly in sync with the Berlin Philharmonic. As is evident in the piano concertos he recorded with the Berlin Philharmonic in 1989—also performing as both pianist and conductor—his magnificent interplay with the orchestra is something unique to this master.
