The pieces are performed by the Cory Band, which reclaimed the championship title at the 2013 European Championships after a three-year hiatus. The piece that led them to victory at that championship is also the title track: “Perihélium—Closer to the Sun.” “Perihélium” refers to the “perihelion,” the point at which the Earth is closest to the Sun, and true to its title, it is a grand, sweeping composition inspired by the cosmos. Also included is a brass band arrangement of Spark’s third euphonium concerto, *Euphonium Concerto No. 3 “Diamond Concerto”*. Young euphonium soloist Matthew White delivers a superb solo performance—a must-listen. Also worth noting is “Marcio Brio,” commissioned by “The Briozo Brass,” a brass band active in Asahikawa, Hokkaido. According to Spark, it is written in the Broadway style and is a dazzling, up-tempo march. This is an excellent album packed with the Corey Band’s superb performances and Philip Spark’s captivating compositions.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Anglo Records","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53595416985889,"sku":"8714441014176","price":3090.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/8714441014176.jpg?v=1790481037","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/8714441014176","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
