Featuring a program that includes works from the three musical forms in which Mozart excelled—opera, symphony, and sonata—the album presents the original sonatas for two pianos, the overture to *The Magic Flute* arranged by Ferruccio Busoni (known for his many Bach transcriptions), and a two-piano version of “Symphony No. 41 ‘Jupiter’” arranged by Otto Singer (II), who left behind numerous piano arrangements of symphonies and symphonic poems by Beethoven, Brahms, and Strauss.\nA highlight of this recording is the luxurious use of two parallel-strung pianos (StraightStrung Concert Grand) crafted by the renowned Dutch master craftsman Chris Marne—instruments that have previously been featured on several albums released by the Et'cetera label. These pianos—which gained attention when Daniel Barenboim played them in 2015 and were reportedly used in his recordings from 2017 onward as well as during his 2021 tour of Japan—do not have strings crossed like a typical grand piano; instead, all strings are strung in parallel, as in a fortepiano or harpsichord, producing a unique sound that combines the characteristics of both the fortepiano and the modern piano.\n\nJean-Michel Deyé is a French pianist who studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and the Paris Conservatoire, among other institutions, and currently teaches at the Lille Conservatory.
