Featuring a program that combines virtuosity, lyricism, and dynamism, this album boasts a formidable lineup with Gardiner conducting and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. The centerpiece of the program is Suk’s *Fantasy for Violin and Orchestra*. One of the masterpieces representing Czech violin repertoire, this work was composed at a turning point in Suk’s creative career as he moved toward his mature period. It is a masterpiece that brilliantly fuses a solo part demanding extremely high technical skill with rich orchestral colors and Suk’s distinctive melodic beauty. The members of the Czech Philharmonic, together with Gardiner, provide the perfect backdrop to highlight Mláček’s performance.\nIn addition to the Suk piece, the album features two early Romantic works performed in collaboration with the Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra. Mendelssohn’s *Violin Concerto in D minor*, composed when he was just 13 years old, demonstrates—despite its youthful origins—solid compositional technique, an excellent sense of structure, and a deft hand in handling the solo part. Muraček’s exceptional technique, intellect, and keen sensitivity to style are fully on display, allowing him to accurately capture the distinct character of each work.\n\n\u003cjan mr\u003e\nBorn in 1991. An internationally acclaimed soloist, chamber musician, and concertmaster of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, he is a young prodigy. Subsequently, at the invitation of Jiří Bělohlávek, he became concertmaster of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and has led the orchestra on international tours in various countries. Following a collaboration with Mesto, Mesto invited Muraček to serve as acting concertmaster of the Cleveland Orchestra for three weeks, a stint that included a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York. In 2022, he served as guest concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic. In 2023, he visited Japan for a concert commemorating the 130th anniversary of Tchaikovsky’s death, performing with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra at Suntory Hall.
