Also available as a 2-LP set! John Coltrane was a great innovator of jazz music, who overturned conventional wisdom and established a style of excellence. His masterpiece, "MY FAVORITE THINGS", released in March 1961, is a milestone in the history of modern jazz. This was the first album in which Coltrane featured the soprano saxophone extensively in addition to the tenor saxophone he had played in the past, and the soprano saxophone takes the lead on half of the tracks on this album. The album's title track is from the musical "The Sound of Music," and the 14-minute-long performance is widely known as synonymous with modern jazz, and an edited version of the song became a radio hit in the spring of 1961. To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the release of this historical masterpiece, a deluxe edition of "MY FAVORITE THINGS" will be released as a 2-CD set and in analog format. Both include stereo and mono mixes of the original album, newly remastered from the original master tapes. The mono mix, in particular, was thought to have been lost for some time, but has been rediscovered and included on this release. The packaging is a faithful reproduction of the original analog jacket as much as possible.Also included is a booklet featuring rare photos and printed materials from the period. The booklet also includes new liner notes by music journalist Ben Rafliff.
