This release features the Prague City Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Adam Klemens, with Leigh Phillips responsible for the reconstruction and orchestration of the music, and Chris Malone handling the mixing and mastering.\n\nDirected by Sidney J. Furie in 1965, *The ICPress File* is a landmark film in British cinema. As the first installment in a series centered on Harry Palmer—a spy who could be called the “anti-Bond”—this film marked Michael Caine’s debut leading role and catapulted him to stardom. Set entirely in London, the story follows a small group of ordinary civil servants as they secretly track down an even smaller network of traitors.\n\nJohn Barry composed the magnificent score for *The Spy Who Came in from the Cold* during one of the most prolific and successful periods of his career, when he was churning out one masterpiece after another. He sought to create a unique musical identity tailored to the story and characters, aiming for music that clearly distinguished the mundane daily lives of real-life British intelligence officers from the fantastical, otherworldly world of James Bond. This score features an iconic main theme that incorporates elements of jazz and highlights a distinctive cimbalom solo. For Barry, the Cold War setting of this film provided the perfect opportunity to fully showcase the charm of this instrument (the cimbalom).\n\nTo coincide with the film’s release, Barry produced a lavish album for Decca Records. However, it consisted primarily of original variations and arrangements based on the main theme, as well as jazz improvisations. Although Barry composed nearly 50 minutes of original music for *The International Intelligence Agency*, only 17 minutes were included on the album. These pieces were edited and rearranged to create an ideal listening experience and were recorded with jazz interpretations interwoven throughout.
