The Mark Passion was first performed in Leipzig in March 1731, and was repeated during Holy Week in 1744. A study of the structure of its lyrics suggests that five pieces from BWV 198 (the first, third, fifth, eighth, and tenth pieces) and one piece from BWV 54 (the opening aria) were adapted from each other, as well as almost all the other pieces from other (Bach) compositions. Performances of the Mark Passion today reflect the ideas and visions of the performers. In the past, performers such as Copeman have attempted to record the work, and now Savard's performance will be added to the list. Savall performs a collection of pieces from the Matthew Passion, the John Passion, and the Chorale. From the very beginning of the piece, the ensemble's bewitching beauty with its soft tones is astonishing.The Gospel historian will be the Hungarian tenor Dávit Szigetváry, winner of the 2012 18th Bach International Competition in Leipzig. The soprano is Marta from Spain, the alto (countertenor) is Rafael Pé from Italy, and the tenor is Reynout van Mechelen from Belgium, a graduate of Christie's \"Voice Garden\" Academy. The bass is Konstantin Wolff from Germany, and the relatively young and active singers are also noteworthy.
