Cumbia band on a spaceship! The long-awaited reissue of the cult and very popular 7-inch Cumbia x Space Disco album, which is a dub mix of recordings by Afro Sound, a famous band led by Fluco. FUENTES formed the band Afro Sound, inspired by supergroups such as Osibiza and Santana. The band gained great popularity in Colombia, partly due to the fact that many of their works were produced by the masterful Fluco. The band's music was not limited to chicha and cumbia, but also included funk, salsa, disco, and Afro-Colombian influences, leaving behind many works that were unique in the Fuentes catalog. Among these Afro-sounds, this 7-inch released in 1983 boasts a particularly cult-like popularity. Although it was partly a tribute to the worldwide hit movie "E.T.," which had been released the previous year, the space-age worldview and outlandish sound experiments that had characterized Afro-Sound since its early days were a perfect match for the worldview of the movie, which dealt with extraterrestrial life.Although two of the songs on the album are also on the recently reissued 1974 album "Carruseles," they are completely different from the original recordings, with all kinds of experimentation, including dog barking, insertion of cosmic sound effects, reverb, echo, etc. The album was produced by Fluco, of course, but also features a mix that would have made Lee Perry pale in comparison. The album was produced by Fluco and mixed by Jose Villerías, who is a genius in his own right, and Lee Perry is also a genius in his own right.
