The elements borrowed from jazz, the small rhythms, and Ravel's sparkling melodies are the most appealing features of this piece. Schoenberg's Piano Concerto is a product of the American era and uses twelve-tone techniques.Although in single-movement form, the work is divided into four parts in terms of content: placed between two concertos, Messiaen's \"Exotic Birds\" is a calculated piece with Messiaen's unique acoustic effects.
