This is a live recording of Telemann's opera \"Millweisse\" made at the Telemann Music Festival held in Hamburg to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the death of Georg Philipp Telemann, which was first performed at the Genzemarkt Opera House in Hamburg in 1728 and was a great success. Based on a true story about politics that was popular in the Hamburg newspapers at the time, Telemann wrote a three-part opera about the exploits of an Afghan tribal chief named Milliweis. Telemann's style is colorful and dramatic, using oriental materials, which were becoming popular at the time, and shows his enthusiasm.
