The SACD hybrid disc features a full lineup of singers, including Davidsen and Schager! The Frankfurt Symphony Orchestra, led by maestro Marek Janowski, has recorded Weber's \"The Magus Archer\". Janowski was one of Germany's leading opera conductors in his mid-30s, serving as general music director of the Freiburg Opera House from 1973 to 1975 and of the Dortmund Opera House from 1975 to 1979. The Magus Archer is Janowski's most famous performance, recorded with the Deutsches Symphonieorchester Berlin in January 1994. The long-awaited re-recording has now been made with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra in November 2018. Janowski's stoic music-making and exquisite volume balance are outstanding in this performance, bringing out various aspects of each scene. The performance also features a full lineup of singers! The role of Agathe is played by the promising soprano Lise Davidsen. Davidsen is one of the most promising sopranos of the moment, appearing at the Bayreuth Festival 2019 as Elisabeth in Tannhäuser conducted by Gergiev.The role of Max will be played by another promising tenor, Andreas Schager. Schager is also the singer who was the talk of the town for his performance of Wagner's \"Der Ring des Nibelungen\" at the Tokyo Spring Music Festival, and he has been a trusted collaborator of Janowski.
