Born in Moscow in October 1957 and having emigrated to Israel at the age of two, Mintz was recognized as a child prodigy from an early age. Isaac Stern, who was among the first to recognize his talent, was deeply impressed by his playing, and Zubin Mehta, captivated by his rich talent, frequently collaborated with him from his teenage years onward, allowing him to expand his scope as a world-class violinist at a young age.\nMintz’s debut recording for DG in 1980—when he was 23—featured a star-studded collaboration with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Claudio Abbado. Already well-established in his career, Mintz is known for his rich, luxurious tone and his singing-like playing, full of expressive depth. Furthermore, Abbado’s meticulous orchestration allows listeners to enjoy a performance of the highest caliber.
