A direct disciple of the legendary virtuoso Hoffmann, Cherkassky is a unique pianist in the 19th century tradition. First, the concerto by the two Russians is from the peak of his career. The recording was made in 1954, the year after Proko's death, when Shostakovich was still alive and active. It is a very interesting record of the music of the same period in which both composers lived. Pianist and composer Chasins (1903-87), who was a close friend of Horowitz, was also a student of Hofmann. He was also a pupil of Hofmann's and therefore a colleague of Czarkaski. All of the pieces, including the one included in this recording, are characterized by the spontaneity of their performances, which are never the same in any one piece, and a strong romanticism, both characteristics that were inherited from their teacher. Paul Bailey's remastering has also greatly improved the sound quality.[comments courtesy of King International].\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Medici Arts\/Medici Masters","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46001677828385,"sku":"827565023226","price":2390.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/827565023226.jpg?v=1690878281","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/827565023226","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
