With a running time of approximately 40 minutes, it is one of Copland’s largest orchestral works. It is imbued with a national spirit that gazes toward a grand, beautiful, and bright horizon, depicting vast landscapes, resilient energy, and the power of human resilience. In the final movement, Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man” is quoted, culminating in a triumphant finale filled with hope for the future.\nGeorge Walker’s *Symphony No. 5 “Visions”* is Walker’s final work, positioned as a protest against racial violence.
