Bruckner died in 1896 with the last movement of this Ninth Symphony unfinished. There is a recording of Bruckner's Ninth Symphony in which the fourth movement was completed, but Gatti's performance this time is up to the third movement. The Concertgebouw Orchestra's Bruckner performances are well known for the tradition that has been handed down from the third chief conductor, Beinum, to Jochum and Haitink, and the live recording with Jansons made in March 2014 (RCO.16001\/KKC.5678), The recording with Jansons (RCO.16001\/KKC.5678), recorded live in March 2014, is a reminder of Jansons's work with the Concertgebouw Orchestra, which has been nurtured by the prestigious orchestra. Gatti's slow tempo and orthodox interpretation of this unfinished masterpiece, dedicated \"to our beloved God,\" together with a recording of great depth that makes the most of the heavy sound of the strings and brass, make for a moving performance. The coupling also includes the Prelude and Good Friday Music from Wagner's last work \"Parsifal\". Gatti, who has often conducted at the Bayreuth Festival, gives a wonderful performance as expected.
