As a tribute to the legendary Italian director Giorgio Strehler, the production features the same armchairs used in Strehler’s iconic 1973 production of *The Marriage of Figaro* at the Paris Opera. The cast includes Carlos Álvarez, Diana Damrau, and Markus Werba. They are joined by rising stars such as the acclaimed French mezzo-soprano Marianne Klebassa and the South African soprano Golda Schulz, creating an exceptionally star-studded cast. Damrau, playing the Countess, captivated the audience with her unparalleled expression in the aria “Where Have All the Joyful Memories Gone?”, while Klebassa, in the trouser role, radiated a striking presence on stage with her sensuous voice and graceful poise. This highly anticipated production also made headlines as the first time Welser-Möst conducted an opera at La Scala.
