Here is a video of \"The Power of Destiny\" at the Palma Reggio Theatre in Parma, where the stage is unique in its attention to detail. The main attraction is Dimitra Teodoschou, who says this was her first Leonora. As usual, she charms us with her large scale singing. Roberto Scandiuzzi's superb Abbess is also superb. Don Alvaro is the tenor Achilles Machado from Venezuela. His remarkable growth in recent years is astonishing. Vladimir Stoyanov's avenging Don Carlo, Mariana Pencheva's cool-beauty Preziosilla, and the ever-popular Buffo, Carlo Lepore's Father Melitone, round out the cast. Gianluigi Gelmetti emphasizes clarity, ensuring that the lengthy opera does not become too heavy-handed.Stefano Poda's direction is steeped in a unique aesthetic sense, and scenes such as Leonora's monastery scene are very impressive. The latest (as of 2013) critical edition is used.
