It is one of the defining works of the bel canto repertoire, depicting a somber atmosphere and intense love. Based on Walter Scott’s novel *The Bride of Lammermoor*, it unfolds a heart-wrenching story where love, political conflict, and psychological breakdown intertwine.\nAt La Scala in Milan, a new production directed by Yannis Kokkos was staged during the 2022–23 season. The restrained staging remained faithful to the libretto, carefully highlighting the work’s inherent elegance, emotion, and passion without resorting to a modern interpretation. Riccardo Chailly conducted, and the orchestra and chorus delivered an outstanding performance described as “beautiful, rich, and tinged with foreboding” (Bachtrack).\nThe title role is sung by the soprano Reset Oropesa, who is currently riding a wave of success. The session recording of this work (20-11175\/EUROARTS), made at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in 2024, is still fresh in our memory, and Reset Oropesa’s extraordinary passion for this production comes through clearly. Combining vocal delicacy with profound emotional expression, she convincingly portrays Lucia as she is torn between her family obligations and forbidden love, ultimately descending into madness. The “Mad Scene” that awaits at the climax is known as one of the most famous and technically demanding scenes in opera history, and she demonstrates an overwhelming presence as the queen of orthodox bel canto.\nJuan Diego Flórez appears in the role of Edgardo, bringing elegance and lyrical strength to the part. The Financial Times praised the performance, stating, “It was a captivating performance. Flores and Oropesa lived up to expectations from day one, and their chemistry is electrifying right from the opening duet,” the Financial Times praised.\nWith its masterful fusion of lyrical beauty and dramatic tension, this production is a timeless masterpiece in the history of opera that continues to captivate audiences to this day.\nCMAJOR\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"C Major","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53082767655201,"sku":"810116912162","price":5884.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/810116912162.jpg?v=1785152944","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/810116912162","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
