Noseda first performed with the Washington National Symphony Orchestra in 2011, where he was impressed by the orchestra's capabilities, and was appointed Music Director in the 2016 season, and in his first concert at Carnegie Hall after his appointment in May 2019, he was impressed by the orchestra's chemistry and its ability to draw out the orchestra's fundamental strengths.
