Although this may sound somewhat like a history lesson, this tumultuous story is known to have been the subject of numerous operas written by composers of the Baroque period, who used it as the basis for a wide variety of operas. In the 1980s, when Vivaldi (1678-1741) was still a little under-performed, this San Francisco Opera's project, \"The Tale of Vivaldi,\" was a great success, with the help of Marilyn Horne's amazing production of the opera. The San Francisco Opera's project, together with Marilyn Horne's superb singing, was a big hit as a pioneer in baroque opera.
