Founded in 2007 at the University of Oxford by the young countertenor Rory McLeery, who began his career as a member of the St. Mary’s Cathedral Boys’ Choir in Edinburgh, the Marian Consort Based on the research and historical analysis of their leader, Rory McLeery—who is also a musicologist—the ensemble continues to perform church music from all eras, with a focus on the 15th through 17th centuries. Additionally, member Emma Walsh is a promising young soprano who participated in the Tallis Scholars’ Japan tour in June 2015.\n\nThe Marian Consort performs masterpieces from a part-book compiled by the English tenor John Baldwin (c. 1560–1615), who served as a chorister at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, as early as 1575.
