Francesco Weber was a late Italian Baroque mandolin and lute player and composer with a German surname who was active in England. His “12 Sonatas for Mandolin and Basso Continuo” are among the most fascinating works for mandolin from the Baroque period.\nWhat makes this recording even more noteworthy is the 5-course mandolin (mandolins from the 19th century onward are four-course instruments tuned like a violin) used specifically for this recording. It was crafted in Genoa in 1717 by the composer’s own father, Andrea Weber; it was recently discovered in a private collection, and until this recording, its existence was completely unknown even among mandolin scholars. This album is a stunning achievement in the history of the mandolin, bringing about a “father-son” collaboration more than 300 years after the instrument’s creation.\nTokyo M Plus\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Tactus","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53419249598753,"sku":"8007194108378","price":4390.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/8007194108378.jpg?v=1788227595","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/8007194108378","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
