The Zurich Opera House and Wagner share a close connection. The Zurich Opera House’s predecessor, the Aktien Theater, served as a stage for Wagner, who had left Germany and gone into exile in Switzerland at the time. After that theater was destroyed by fire, the current Zurich Opera House was built in 1891. It is also a historic venue where Furtwängler began his career and where Wagner’s *Parsifal* was first performed outside of Bayreuth.\n\nSince this album was recorded over the course of careful studio sessions, Luigi’s precise and passionate conducting has paid off magnificently, resulting in a recording that maintains the excitement of a live performance while offering a more refined musicality. Luigi himself carefully curated the program, opening with the prelude to *Parsifal*, an opera deeply associated with the Zurich Opera House.
