In the previous release of the complete symphonies (777365-2), Bärmann gave a crisp performance. This time we have a collection of overtures and the rare recording of the \"Zwickau Symphony. The overture is often heard, but the \"Zwickau Symphony\" is an unfinished work by the young Schumann, started in 1832, the first movement was composed and premiered, but it was not well received at all. The recording of this performance by Behrman is not known. This performance by Bärmann is based on the edition by Matthias Wendt, which shows Schumann's original conception of the piece, without the deletion of the slow introduction. After the failure of this work, Schumann turned his attention to piano music.
