Although he himself composed three symphonies, as well as orchestral works, chamber music, and numerous art songs, most of these works have now been forgotten. This recording features works that subtly evoke the majestic atmosphere of a composer who loved nature and was committed to environmental conservation. His style is quite unique, as exemplified by the first movement of Symphony No. 3, which begins in unison. Recorded in 2011 by the Bochum Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Frank Beermann.
