While serving as organist at the Church of Saint-Sulpice in Paris for 65 years, he also taught organ and composition at the Paris Conservatory, nurturing many talented musicians, including Marcel Dupré. The two works included here are truly magnificent, possessing a heavenly sound. The concise composition and counterpoint that deliberately avoids complexity lend the pieces a crystalline clarity.
