It contains three orchestral works in his early modernist style, \"Modifkata\" (revised version in 2003), \"Cello Concerto No. 2\" and \"Spell,\" a percussion concerto. The \"Cello Concerto,\" which is also the title of the album, was written for the soloist Merck, and in its 20-minute length, the work encapsulates mystery and eternity. The Percussion Concerto is dedicated to Kullier, who premiered the piece, and the superb cadenza in the main movement is also by Kullier himself. The Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and its principal conductor, Strugårs, perform these pieces as a tremendous tribute to their great fellow composer.
