To commemorate the Memorial Year, the MDG label is re-releasing two monumental recordings by German organist Rosalinde Haas, Reger's \"Complete Organ Works\" and \"Complete Bach Arrangements,\" a 14-CD box set. German late-Romantic composer Max Reger (1873-1916) left a large number of organ works in his short 43-year life. Influenced by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and Wagner, he developed his own musical world that was more complex and profound. He was himself a devout Catholic who married a Protestant woman and was excommunicated by the Catholic Church. Rosalinde Haas was born in Schramberg in 1932 to a father who was a church organist, and studied organ from the age of seven under such masters as Helmut Walcha and Fernando Germani.Her vast expertise, accumulated over many years of performing and studying organ music, has resulted in this complete collection of Reger's organ works, including arrangements, which are expressive and highly appealing. The Arbeits organ in Niederrath is superbly functional, allowing for technical passages and colorful registrations, which enhance Rosalinde Haas's witty playing. The booklet also includes detailed registration information. The recording is also an excellent recording by MDG's famous duo, Werner Dubbelinghaus and Raimund Grimm.
