Originally from Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, he left home at the age of 17 and spent his spare time singing karaoke and posting videos of himself singing covers on Reddit while working on the pipeline. Eventually, from those posts, the executive staff of American Idol noticed his solid singing ability, and Cameron was selected for season 20 of American Idol, where he was named a Top 20 finalist. Although he was eliminated there, this was the beginning of his decision to seriously explore a career in music.\n\n\n\nHe then sobered up and immersed himself in learning to write songs to break free from his teenage addictions, and in 2024, he released \"Rocking Chair,\" his debut single for Atlantic, followed by his debut EP, QUITTER. Inspired in part by his journey to overcome his own addiction, it includes the deeply personal single \"Love Myself\" and the self-exploration-themed title track \"Quitter.\"The song \"Quitter\" was not only Cameron's first big hit, streaming over 100 million times worldwide and charting on Billboard's Canadian HOT 100 singles chart, but was also praised by Billboard as \"a folk anthem in the style of Noah Kahan, with a kickin' beat and Whitcomb's snarling vocals\". It was also praised by Billboard in the U.S. as \"a folk anthem in the style of Noah Kahan, featuring a pounding beat and Whitcomb's growling vocals.\n\n\n\nTHE HARD WAY\" is Cameron's long-awaited debut album. The album includes the aforementioned smash hit \"Quitter,\" the American alternative radio hit \"Bad Apple,\" a collaboration with up-and-coming indie-folk artist Ean Honer, \"My Expense,\" the emotionally charged \"Options,\" and the epic anthem \"The Hard Way. Options,\" the epic anthem \"Hundred Miles High,\" and the emotionally charged single \"Gasoline \u0026amp;Matches.
