Born of live improvisation as the soundtrack to a dance workshop, their music was never intended to seek acclaim from the music industry.\n\n\n\nFrom experimental psychology through psychedelic counterculture, Gabouelle Ross developed her own theory of movement meditation called \"Five Rhythms\" in the late 70s.The concept and methodology of \"Ecstatic Dance,\" which has been handed down since the time of ancient shamans and Greek mythology, has been revived in the modern age and has grown into an international workshop with more than 400 certified instructors in 50 countries around the world. The music is mainly improvised by several drummers who were longtime members of Babatunde Olatunji's band, and is based on a wide range of roots music rhythms from Native American shaman music to Afro-Brazilian candomblé and Yoruba beliefs.
