French label WEWANTSOUNDS, which has produced many high-quality Japanese reissues, is pleased to announce the first analog release of Freddie Hubbard's live performance in Paris with a four-piece band! Freddie Hubbard is a famous trumpeter who established the style of free bop by recording for Blue Note Records, etc. Freddie Hubbard and his quintet, George Cables (Fender Rhodes), Jun. Freddie Hubbard and his quintet, George Cables (Fender Rhodes), Junior Cook (sax/flute), Kent Brinkley (bass), and Michael Carvin (drums), performed at the Maison de la Radio (ORTF) in Paris on March 25, 1973, and the original tape recordings have been remastered for analog. The tape was remastered for analog, and is now available for the first time in a luxurious gatefold jacket with obi designed by Raimund Wong and liner notes by Kevin Le Gendre with the assistance of Michael Carvin.The beautiful melodies of Freddie Hubbard's classics "Sky Dive", "The Intrepid Fox", "Povo", and "First Light" are retained, while George Cables' Fender Rhodes playing and Michael Carvin's powerful drumming make the performance more spiritual and passionate.
