The ensemble's previous release of Mendelssohn's centripetal performance was a masterpiece of perfection that overwhelmed the other ensembles. This time, the Brahms ensemble was joined by Menahem Pressler, a veteran pianist with a long and distinguished career. He is also known as a founding member of the Beaux Arts Trio and has a keen eye for chamber music, but surprisingly, this is the first time he has recorded this piece. What a wonderful intergenerational collaboration!
