Khachaturian's concerto was composed in 1946 after World War II, and although it is introspective, perhaps reflecting the difficult times, and lacks the intensity of the violin and piano concertos, it strikes a chord with its earnest passion. Khachaturian had originally studied the cello and was well versed in its functions and effects, which requires a very difficult technique. Shausyan is also full of song and reaffirms the song's appeal. Babadzhaniyan's concerto dedicated to Rostropovich was written in 1962, but was actually conceived when he met the maestro in the late 1950s. Even more than Khachaturyan, it has a direct and appealing Armenian ethnic flavor. Petrosyan, who works in the region, was born in 1973. Educated in Paris, he is also an archaeologist. The title \"8.4\" refers to Genesis 8:4, the place where Noah's ark reaches Mount Ararat in Armenia. The Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra, under the musical direction of Eduard Topchiyan since 2000, has been performing this piece with a unique Armenian rhythm as well as technical skill.
