After five years since her recording of Schoenberg's Nos. 2 and 4 (BIS SA-2267), she has finally recorded Nos. 1 and 3! Schoenberg, one of the most influential composers of the 20th century as the founder of twelve-tone music, began experimenting with atonal music around 1908, but his No. 1 is from 1905. Although based on tonality, this early work is notable for its counterpoint and its experimentation with a single-movement form. Although it is in a single movement, this performance is a 46-minute long piece. The orchestra never loses its concentration in this tense work. Less than a quarter of a century has passed since the composition of No. 1. No. 3 was composed in 1927.
