The promising conductor Dima Slobodenyuk recorded Prokofiev's orchestral works with the hand-picked Lahti Symphony Orchestra. Born in Moscow in 1975, Slobodeniuk moved to Finland at the age of 17 to study conducting at the Sibelius Academy with Leif Segerstam and Jorma Panula, and was appointed principal conductor of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra in the fall 2016 season, followed by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, He is a promising conductor who is also making his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic, best known for his recording of Haochen Chang's Prokofiev & Tchaikovsky concertos on the BIS label. In a highly anticipated new recording with the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, he will be presenting Prokofiev. The suite "Four Depictions and Conclusion from 'The Gambler'" consists of five pieces of music from the opera "The Gambler," re-edited by Prokofiev himself. The fifth and final piece is an edited version of the roulette scene in Act IV of the same opera, and the motive for the spinning of the roulette is truly impressive.Suite from the Ballet "Stone Flower" combines the prologue "Queen of the Copper Mines" from the ballet "Stone Flower" with the Wedding Suite, Op.126 and Gypsy Fantasy, Op.127, which is an adaptation of "Stone Flower". Slobodenyuk and the Lahti Symphony Orchestra give an excellent performance with outstanding compositional skills. King International
